About Us

Land Cruising

On Friday November 9th we headed off on our planned Thanksgiving  trip. We rented a 30 foot Itasca, Winnebago Motor Home to take us to Texas for Thanksgiving and the birth of our new grandbaby. The trip was long planned and since we were unable to sail we thought a land cruise would be appropriate.

Our trip took us across Florida to Indian Rocks Beach where we caught up with Ed and Marian Herndon aboard Remedy. From there we headed up Florida Rt 19 along the west coast through Tarpon Springs where we had a great Greek feast. We settled in for the night at an Encore campground at Crystal River. The next day we continued north and west following Rt 19, 98 and 90 to I 10 near Tallahassee.  Deep in the woods near Holt close to the western border of Florida we found a nice campground. The following day we headed across I 10 to New Orleans.

New Orleans captured us for two days. It was fun to play tourist and enjoy the sights and tastes of this fun city. We devoured  Muffaletta sandwiches, Beignets, oysters and shrimp, and more Beignets for dessert. We enjoyed the cuisine so much we signed up for a morning class at the New Orleans School of Cooking. We learned the secrets of making Gumbo, Jambalaya, Bread Pudding and Pralines. And, even got to taste it all at lunch. We rolled out of town promising to start a diet tomorrow! By noon Friday we were settled into the Space Center Campground Houston, Texas.

We plan on enjoying the next couple of weeks with family and friends.
