January 31, 2001 to March 26, 2001

Our trip Across the Atlantic brought us to Trinidad for a long rest and a
chance to do boat maintenance. Trinidad is known as a great spot for both. We
spent January here.
We began our trek up the island chain as February began. We hoped it would be
a peaceful and relaxing sojourn among the fabled Caribbean Islands. Stu was
suffering with a pinched nerve in his neck which gave him pain down his right
arm. it certainly took a lot of the fun out of a very interesting trip. In late
March he flew home to get state side medical help and Elizabeth Anne came home
with the boat a week later.
We had a very interesting visit in the islands. We were joined by friends and
family along the way.
Each cluster of islands has a distinct feel and culture. Their climates and
terrain are quite distinct and unique. You could spend endless days exploring
each island...but in the long run we are still voyaging home not just cruising
and hanging out. Stu has been hurting since early January. We have seen several
Doctors, Chiropractors, and Massage Therapist along the way. Stu's hurting has
limited the amount of adventuring we have done. None the less we certainly have
seen and done a lot.
Jim Bloom came down to Guadalupe and sailed with us to the British Virgins.
We are really grateful for the help and we had a lot of fun too! Jim introduced
us to Antigua a side we would not otherwise have gotten to see.
Rebecca Bell and two of her friends both named Erin ( Ward, Weichbrod ) came
for their Spring Break from Frostburg State (MD). We had a great visit and they
found night spots we never even heard of. We also discovered that we go to bed
before the party ever starts.
