Beaufort to Bermuda Chesapeake to Beaufort Bermuda to Virgin Islands Getting Used to Paradise Christmas 2002 Holiday Visit with Friends January Febuary 2003 Puerto Rico

Crisp air and rainy skies chased us out of the Chesapeake Bay by the end of October. We joined up with Wind Runner skippered by our friend Gary Smith in Portsmouth, Virginia and headed south through the Dismal Swamp and the Intercoastal waterway to Beaufort North Carolina.

We had a great trip from Beaufort, North Carolina to Bermuda with Gary Smith, his grandson Justin and Alison Nelson aboard. We also had the company of the Taylor clan, aboard PatiCat a Voyage 440, who were also headed our way. Our arrival in Bermuda was nothing like anything we've experienced yet. We enjoyed a lovely visit in Bermuda before bidding the Smith family goodbye.

We headed off from Bermuda with PatiCat and several other vessels headed for the Virgin Islands. Within a day we were all out of sight from each other. The wind was out of the South South East gradually moving to Easterly. So, we were in a close reach much of the way. We made landfall about three AM after five days at sea. We dropped the hook first chance we got and woke in the morning to the view you see above. We had arrived in paradise.
